Qigong Breathing & Healing

Qigong Breathing exercises deal with a type of Qi that is in the air. The Nine-Breath Method is an incredibly powerful breathing practice that instantly brings large amounts of Qi inside your body. This type of high-powered breathing technique is important because it has enough power to break through deep emotional, physical, and energetic blockages. (Blockages are discussed later on)

A high level Qigong practitioner once said, "If they didn't show you how to breathe...then you didn't learn Qigong." It sounds like a harsh or judgmental statement, however it is true in our opinion. Breathing techniques are the single most powerful Qigong secrets when dealing with the absorption and circulation of universal Qi. Especially if you ever want to learn how to transmit Qi to other people.

We teach something called Tumo Breathing in our Nine-Breath Method, which means inner fire. It is a special form of breathing that takes an entire day of training to learn well. One learns to pressurize Qi in the naval center to flow stronger. Truthfully, the ultimate breathing techniques are well beyond abdominal breathing, breathing slower or alternate nostril breathing. The real secret lies in the position of your abdomen during the exhale and inhale. We refer to this process as "finding the sweet spot".

Aside from being a mechanical process, high powered Qigong breathing techniques often take the practitioner to a profound state of consciousness or oneness with all things. Common everyday people will often touch the realm where the entire body is energy. This is impossible to describe except to say that it is a profoundly spiritual experience. Qigong breathing has a tremendous role to play in awakening our non-physical self and therefore our spirituality can be substantially deepened

Qigong Healing

Qigong Healing is a fascinating area of Chinese medical practice. In this process, the practitioner guides his or her own Qi, emitted through key acupuncture points in the body, to enhance Qi flow in the patient. In many instances, this is done without any physical contact. Several quite specific hand gestures are used in order to emit Qi. Central to Qigong healing is the practitioner’s own strong and robust energy system, which will have been developed by practicing many of the Qigong exercises and postures already discussed on previous pages. There is a growing body of literature and evidence from China regarding the emission and guidance of Qi and how this can be focused onto the patient in order to facilitate his or her Qi balance and redress any apparent disharmony.

It is likely that many of the techniques ascribed to the “laying on of hands” or “distance healing” (in western context) can be attributed to a process of energetic transfer between practitioner and patient, which balances the underlying Qi flow and helps clear disharmonies. Chinese medicine offers the most comprehensive theoretical articulation of what happens during the process.

Chinese medicine operates at an energetic level and produces changes at a physical level. I have no doubt the Qi emission and guideance are real. These healing techniques require a deep understanding of the Chinese system of medicine, and specific training. When considering Qigong healing, remember that powerful energetic forces are involved, consequently, you need to feel confident about the qualifications and experience of the practitioner you choose.

Sutra On Full Awareness Of Breathing

Twenty five hundred years ago Buddah instructed his followers on this method of being fully aware of breathing.
This is how you practice.
Breathing in, I know that I am breathing in. And breathing out, I know that I am breathing out.
Breathing in with a long breath, I am aware that I am breathing in with a long Breath. And breathing out with a ling breath, I am aware that I am breathing out with a long breath.
Breathing in with a short breath, I am aware that I am breathing in with a short breath. And breathing out with a short breath, I am aware that I am breathing out with a short breath.
I am breathing in and I am aware of my whole body. I am breathing out and I am aware of my whole body.
I am breathing in and making my whole body calm and at peace. I am breathing out and making my whole body calm and at peace.
I am breathing in and feeling joyful. I am breathing out and feeling joyful. I am breathing in and feeling happy. I am breathing out and feeling happy.
I am breathing in and I am aware of the activities of my mind. I am breathing out and I am aware of the activities of my mind.
I am breathing in and making the activities of my mind calm and at peace. I am breathing out and making the activities of my mind calm and at peace.
I am breathing in and am aware of my mind. I am breathing out and am aware of tmy mind.
I am breathing in and making my mind happy and at peace. I am breathing out and making my mind happy and at peace.
I am breathing in and concentrating my mind. I am breathing out and concentrating my mind. I am breathing in and liberating my mind. I am breathing out and liberating my mind.
I am breathing in and observing the impermanent nature of all dharmas. I am breathing out and observing the impermanent nature of all dharmas.
I am breathing in and observing the fading of all dharmas. I am breathing out in and observing the fading of all dharmas.
I am breathing in and contemplating liberation. I am breathing out and contemplating liberation.
I am breathing in and contemplating letting go. I am breathing out and contemplating letting go.
One practices like this.
